Ahmed Dawood, Managing Partner

Ahmed M. Salman Dawood is the Founder and Managing Partner of Bayt al-Hikmah Legal Services and Consulting. A member of the Iraqi Bar Association, Dawood specializes in commercial and financial affairs related to Iraq, particularly trade and foreign investment, privatization, public procurement, licensing, and contracting. He has worked for Grant Thornton LLP, the Coalition Provisional Authority, and the Government of Iraq. He helped draft many of the laws that affect business in Iraq today, including the investment law, and the financial laws, and met regularly with several ministers while working as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister.

 

Majid Hamid al-Anbaki, Partner

Majid Hamid was an emeritus professor of private law at Baghdad University. He has a number of publications focusing on Iraqi law, including books on maritime and transport law, and is the founder and president of the Iraqi Maritime Association, established in 1987. Hamid also served on the drafting committees for the maritime law, transport, and ports. For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as head of the legal experts committee, and as the Deputy Permanent Representative to Switzerland. Additional work includes legal consulting for the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, the Central Bank, and Iraqi Airways.

 

Faiz Saadi, Senior Attorney

Faiz has over 17 years of experience as a private attorney in Iraq, with extensive experience advising legal reform efforts in the country. He has worked as a legal adviser for the Coalition Provisional Authority, the U.S. Army Governorate Support team, and the U.S. Department of State, playing an integral role in assisting reconstruction efforts and providing legal aid to impoverished Iraqis.

 

Khawla Baidhani, Senior attorney

Khawla Rasheel Al byadh is an experienced lawyer who has worked with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq as the legal officer for the Chief of Staff's office and with the political and constitutional affairs office. She also worked as a legal adviser for BearingPoint Inc., providing insights and analysis on Iraq's legal system, and potential targets for reforms. She is an expert on governance in Iraq, and acted as a liaison between the United Nations and her counterparts in the Iraqi government.

 


Rasha M. Nadeem, Attorney

Rasha Nadeem is an attorney and member of the Iraqi Bar Association specializing in commercial and financial matters related to Iraq, particularly, trade and foreign investment, privatization, public procurement, licensing, and contracting. She has worked with Iraqi commecrial attachee in DC, Grant Thornton LLP and Ideal Innovations Inc as attorney providing advice on Iraq's legal system, and also worked as an attorney for law firms in Iraqi and United Arab Emirates

 

Hiba Jameel, Director of the Baghdad office

Hiba Jameel is an experienced researcher and administrator, working for the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum for over five years as a legal affairs coordinator. She also worked as an independent legal translator and researcher, and has also been employed by multinationals such as GSI Business Services Inc., and Harlow International.
